Olivemead Lake Rules & Lodge Information
Our Lake rules are in place purely to ensure the safety of all our anglers and guests and the respect and care of the fish.
PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS PAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL AT OLIVEMEAD LAKE
Lodge Information
- Olivemead Lake’s CHECK-IN time is 1:00 PM; please plan your journey accordingly, and please DO NOT arrive earlier than 1:00 PM; CHECK-OUT time is 10:00 AM (This means you must vacate the lodge and leave Olivemead Lake by 10:00 AM, not starting to pack away at 10:00 AM)
- We kindly request that you refrain from using any towels provided in the lodges when you catch a fish. Please bring and use your own towel(s) for this purpose.
- Access to Netflix is FREE; your lodge has its own designated Netflix account; please DO NOT log out of your lodge’s Netflix account.
- If anything gets damaged or broken in the lodge, facilities, or swims, you must notify management immediately; please DO NOT leave it until you check out.
- A MAXIMUM of 2 anglers, 2 non-angling guests, and 2 dogs are allowed to stay in each lodge and its designated swim and garden areas.
- Please be considerate and pick up any dog waste with an appropriate ‘dog waste bag’ and place it into The BIG BLUE bin situated on the main car park by the main entrance/exit gates
- Access to WiFi is FREE; the FREE WiFi password is: Olivemead Lakes
- Please make sure you order any bait, logs, and any £1 & £2 coins for exchange to be used in the electricity meters between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM
- NO naked flames or fires are allowed ANYWHERE on the premises (Disposable BBQs are also BANNED)
- Please DO NOT leave ANY rubbish in the lodges, please dispose of your waste using the SMALL RED BIN for GLASS ONLY, and ALL other waste can be put into the BIG BLUE BIN; both bins are situated on the main car park next to the main entrance/exit gates
- STRICTLY NO SMOKING INSIDE THE LODGES OR ANY OTHER FACILITIES we provide
- We kindly request that you refrain from bringing any indoor furniture outdoors

Lake Rules
RIGS
- ALL RIGS WILL BE CHECKED
- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR RODS UNATTENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
- Barbed or Micro Barbed hooks ONLY (NO BARBLESS HOOKS ARE ALLOWED)
- Only tubing of AT LEAST 14″ in length is allowed for ALL RIGS. NO bare line above leads (NO safezone or safezone type leaders are allowed, TUBING ONLY)
- All leads, and any tubing must pass over any knots
- NO lead core or any braided material above the lead or fixed rigs; SAFETY RIGS AT ALL TIMES!
- NO zig rigs, Ronnie rigs or 360 rigs, or any other rig that the hook connects directly to a swivel
- The OMC self-hooking contraption known as “The Magic Stick/Twig” is BANNED
- A MINIMUM breaking strain line of 12lb is required and should be reasonably new
- In the event of a ‘crack off,’ everything must be able to come away safely to prevent the fish from potentially becoming tethered!
- NO FIXED LEADS OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF ‘DEATH RIGS’.
- Baited rigs should not be left on the rods when they are not in use, as this is dangerous to the wildlife that calls Olivemead Lake home.
FISH CARE- PLEASE RESPECT THE FISH AT ALL TIMES!
- ALL ANGLERS MUST HAVE A CARP CARE KIT.
- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR RODS UNATTENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
- After fish are netted, they must be given 5 minutes to recover in the landing net before they are taken out of the water. Then, the net must be broken down, and the weigh sling must be put under the fish and then lifted out of the water in the weigh sling.
- In very hot and very cold conditions, all slings and cradles must be wetted before fish are placed in or on them.
- Whilst in the cradle, the fish must be kept soaked with water. (Buckets of water are provided with the landing equipment)
- You must NOT try to unhook the fish in the water.
- Please take any photos and weigh the fish as quickly and as safely as possible to minimize any stress to the fish. Please KNEEL or SIT for photos with our fish over the cradle, DO NOT STAND UP! Self-take (“selfie”) photography is NOT allowed. All photos must be taken on the bottom tiers of ANY of the lodge’s decked areas.
- If you land what is clearly a ‘big fish’ (30lb+), please call us on 07940 356737 ANY TIME.
- ONLY USE THE NETS, SLINGS, AND CRADLES PROVIDED (DO NOT USE OR BRING YOUR OWN INTO THE SWIM).
- NO sacking/retaining or keep netting of ANY FISH IS ALLOWED.
- If you get ‘snagged’ WITH or WITHOUT a fish, call us on 07940 356737, DO NOT PULL FOR A BREAK OR GET INTO THE WATER!
- If you decide to bring your dog(s) with you and you catch a fish, YOU must ensure all dogs are kept away from the fish to prevent injury or harm to the fish.
- Under NO circumstances should ANY fish be transported back into the lake in your arms; ANY fish must be transported back to the water in the slings provided.
- Under NO circumstances should ANY fish be removed from the cradle unless being put back into the weigh sling.

Health and Safety- You and any party members who fish and stay at Olivemead Lake do so at their OWN RISK. Olivemead Lake’s proprietor does NOT accept ANY liability for any loss, damage to possessions, vehicles, or personal accident and/or injury to you or any party members, including children and pets.
- ALCOHOL: Although alcohol is NOT BANNED at Olivemead Lake; if you choose to consume alcohol, please do so in moderation. we will NOT tolerate drunken behavior; this is for your safety as well as ours. ANY form of substance abuse and/or substance-related abuse will also not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave Olivemead Lake immediately, and NO refunds will be issued to you or any party members.
- The first aid kit is with the proprietor. First aid will be given to anyone who needs it.
- ALL lodge swims have got life-ring buoys with a line attached these are NOT toys and should ONLY be used in case of an emergency in the water
- DO NOT climb ANY trees.
- DO NOT use the rowing boat under ANY circumstances.
- DO NOT get into the water under ANY circumstances.
- NO SWIMMING OR WADING is permitted.
- If you decide to bring any children and/or dogs with you, you must be responsible for their safety and well-being in the lodges, around the lake, around the water, and in any facilities we provide at all times.
- Children and/or dogs are not allowed to wander around the lake unsupervised by parents/guardians.
- Please KEEP AWAY from any rodenticide boxes and the electric perimeter otter fence that is live 24/7 at all times (both the rodenticide boxes and the electric fence are clearly signposted with BLACK AND YELLOW WARNING signs).
- Always KEEP YOUR DOG(s) on a lead when taking them outside of the lodge and its designated garden areas, being mindful of other anglers/guests and the electric perimeter fence that is live 24/7.
- Children under the age of 16 ARE allowed but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- ONLY dogs that are well-behaved are allowed at Olivemead Lake.
General
- The main entrance/exit gates are locked at 8:30 PM and will NOT open again until 8:00 AM the following morning. (If you have an emergency, please call us on 07940 356737 ASAP, and management will immediately open the gates for you.)
- Please adhere to the ‘one-way system’ that is in place when arriving and staying at Olivemead Lake (The directions that you need for your lodge(s) are sign-posted on the main car park. Alternatively, you can ring the doorbell by the main entrance/exit gates for help).
- All anglers must have a working and useable sounder/receiver box with them at all times for their bite alarms.
- NO more than 4 rods are allowed per swim (The MAXIMUM is 2 anglers per swim and lodge, so that’s 2 rods each).
- Bait boats ARE allowed and must be kept inside your designated swim (‘water’) when being used, which is clearly marked out with coloured, anchored-down buoys.
- All anglers must keep to and inside of their designated swim (‘water’), which is clearly marked out with coloured, anchored-down buoys (management will show you your designated swim (‘water’) when you arrive).
- NO spombs are allowed unless you have a spomb float.
- NO WHOLE NUT BAITS ARE ALLOWED! (NO TIGER NUTS, BRAZIL NUTS, PEANUTS etc.).
- NO FLOATER FISHING is allowed at ANY TIME.
- NO PIKE FISHING is allowed at ANY TIME.
- ONLY USE THE LANDING NETS, SLINGS AND CRADLES PROVIDED! (DO NOT USE OR BRING YOUR OWN INTO THE SWIM)
- When fishing, keep at least 15 feet away from ANY aerators at all times.
- DO NOT park or drive vehicles on ANY of the grass areas. Each lodge has its own designated parking space, and the main car park is available to use if you have multiple vehicles. Please refrain from blocking the road that goes around the lake.
- DO NOT litter or leave any pet waste in ANY of the garden areas or ANYWHERE around the lake. Please dispose of any waste that IS NOT GLASS in the BIG BLUE BIN and ANY GLASS goes into the SMALL RED BIN. Both are situated on the main car park next to the main entrance/exit gates.
- Please keep noise to a reasonable level and respect all other anglers/guests around you.
- NO BALL GAMES are allowed due to the proximity of the water.
- DO NOT damage or cut down ANY bankside vegetation or trees.

Notes
- Drones are NOT allowed unless a prior agreement has been made with Olivemead Lake’s proprietor or manager.
- What management and/or the proprietor of Olivemead Lake decides is FINAL, abusive, or aggressive behavior towards ANY of our staff will NOT be tolerated under ANY circumstances, and you will be asked to leave Olivemead Lake immediately, and NO refunds will be issued.
- ANY visitors to Olivemead Lake must park on the main car park along the fenced side.
- 24/7 CCTV surveillance is in place around Olivemead Lake for your safety and security, as well as the safety and security of Olivemead Lake and its fish.
- Any anglers NOT fishing with the correct equipment will be expected to purchase the equipment needed.
